Jacki Lagiewka

Hello! I’m Ms. Jacki!

I teach middle school science and computers, and am the newly appointed Head of the Science Department!

I’m from Winnipeg, Canada, and graduated with both of my degrees from the University of Winnipeg (Go Wesmen!). While doing my Bachelor of Education degree, I got the opportunity to do an international practicum placement and came here to Clifford for 6 weeks in the spring of 2018. It was such a fantastic experience, that I came back to teach full-time for the 2021-2022 school year!

My teaching philosophy revolves around one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite cartoon science teachers: “Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!” – Ms. Frizzle

Science is embodied in that one quote: science is propelled forward by experimentation and making mistakes, and personal and academic growth comes from correcting those mistakes and learning why they were made in the first place. Growth mindset is something we are always working on in my class, and it’s a value I hope to instill in every one of my students.
