My name is James Clennett, and I teach Grade 8, 11, and 12 Mathematics, as well as our new Outdoor Education course. I’ve been teaching in China for over seven years, and this is my sixth year at CIS.
I earned my degree in Mathematics from Newcastle University in the UK, and completed my PGCE at Teesside University. I also hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Teaching has always been a passion of mine—I’ve genuinely enjoyed helping others grow and succeed for as long as I can remember. That’s what drew me to education in the first place. For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching students grasp new concepts, build confidence, and reach goals they once thought were out of reach.
